Upgrade & Improve Attic Insulation

Insulation For Your House Attic

If you are a homeowner and need to insulate your loft or replace your insulation, our team of experts can help.

An Attic Insulation upgrade is one of the most affordable and effective solutions a homeowner can implement to reduce heat loss in their home.

The SEAI calculates a home can lose between 20-30% of heat through its roof if it is not properly insulated. An attic insulation upgrade generally involves adding a second layer of rolled insulation to bring the total insulation thickness from 100mm to 300mm.

The installation generally takes a few hours to complete and as the work is located in the attic, it is not intrusive to the occupants of the home. As we are increasing the insulation thickness in your attic, this may warrant additional ventilation or raising of storage flooring in your attic space, to optimize your insulation effectiveness and comply with SEAI standards. Our surveyor will complete this assessment free of charge and we can include any additional works as part of the Grant Scheme.

Water Tank & Pipe Insulation

As part of all Attic Insulation upgrades, we will also add a layer of insulation to your cold water tanks and pipes (if not already insulated). This will protect them from any potential frost damage, which can affect your plumbing, and may also flood your attic or the rooms beneath.

Insulated attic tanks and pipes also reduce the energy needed to heat your water. This is due to the fact that water being used by your heating system is stored at a higher temperature compared to an uninsulated tank

Benefits of Insulating Your Loft

Proper insulation acts as a barrier to prevent heat transfer. During the winter, it keeps warm air inside the home, reducing the need for the heating to be consistently on. Whereas in the summer, it helps prevent warm air from entering. This reduces energy bills year-round. With effective attic insulation, your home maintains a more consistent and comfortable temperature throughout the year.

By reducing the amount of energy needed to heat or cool your home, insulating the attic contributes to energy conservation and lowers your carbon footprint.

Insulating your attic can also provide soundproofing benefits. It helps reduce external noise, making your home a more peaceful place.

Attic insulation, when properly installed with vapor barriers, can help prevent moisture buildup in the attic. This reduces the risk of mold and mildew growth, which can have health implications.

An insulated attic can be an attractive feature for potential buyers when you decide to sell your home. It can increase your property’s value and make it more appealing on the real estate market.
